Coombes Croft Libray
This public library is situated in Tottenham, London oppsite the Tottenham Hotspur football ground who sponsored this project along with Haringey Council.
Coombes Croft was in mediaevel times a small farming croft.
There was a requirement for a brick built planter retaining wall and a set of entrance gates into the library.
Art for Architecture produced and installed both to the delight of the local library users.
Above the Coombes Croft brick planter made from radial brick stretchers to form a curved wall. The sculpture was carved in relief on the wall to a depth of 50mm, permanent brick stains were used to acentuate the sheep forms and pick out the intaglio relief lettering.
Behind the planter was the security gates made in mild steel, then galvanized. The gates had illustrative panels inset, see examples below
