The Genie of Industry

commissioned by CENTRO the artwork feature sits on top of a train information point.

John designed the genie as a tribute to the industry of the Birmingham metal bashers over the centuries. The Birmingham civic coat of arms has a black smith and anvil upon it which were starting points of information for the genie.

Above the genie in progress at John McKenna's studio when it was in Worcestershire. Designed by John Mckenna. Metal bashed by John Mckenna aided by his long assistant Darren Sutton.

The above steel panels 'children at play' were inset into a length of bow top railings for a housing development in Wednesbury. The housing scheme was built on the former site of an old school playground at Amos Lane, Wednesbury, Wolverhampton. Mild steel galvanized and painted, the railings ran over 200m designed by John McKenna and fabricated by Art for Architecture.
